House Hunting

On Monday John and I went house hunting.

Ford 1992 E-150 Hi-Top Conversion VanThe place we checked out is quite an upgrade from where we normally call home.  By upgrade I mean it’s a mere twelve years older and the price is a mere $9,000 cheaper. Yep, we saw a van by the side of the road that caught our fancy.

Well, the idea of living in a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER caught my fancy long, long ago.

I did the living in a Rav4 down by the (insert location, I’ve probably done it) thing since I became a civilian in 2010. It was spacious, comfortable, and incredible…but that was when there was only one adult human being living in the vehicle with the two furballs.

Now there are two.

John and I have lived in the Rav4 together for months at a time up and down the west coast and across the country on three separate occasions. It was still spacious (albeit a little less so), still comfortable (for me, since I wasn’t sleeping on the wheel well), and ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

living in the car

However, we’ve been thinking of heading to the Everglades this fall to be guides where it’s warm.   For that style of potentially hot vehicle living, we thought an upgrade could be in order.

Dreams of shelving and shag pads abound. Personalizing, customizing, painting, decorating.

So. Freakin’.Exciting.

We took her for a test drive.

She leans hard to the left.

Her tires are ….eh.

She likes gas.

She’s a ’92, so there are electrical components that we’d have to get fixed at a shop. :/

Well, you know what I say to that?72 Hours Rita

Michael Johnson didn’t begin his running career wearing gold spikes.

She gets taken for her inspection Tuesday.

I think we may just see her again on Tuesday!

If you are going from PA to FL you COULD possibly take a (not so) short detour west and come to NC for a visit. I swear if we don’t see you this summer I’ll have to hunt you down!
    Great van, great plan.
    PS you look good kiddo!

Thanks, Susan! We do plan to come visit. Depending on the summer, it might just be me, so someone is still around to water the garden. 🙂 We might go coastal on the way down. Who knows! 😀
